Where da'wah activities usually utilize various digital platforms and social media such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and so on. This article focuses on how young clerics such as Gus Iqdam, Gus Miftah and Gus Kautsar preach through YouTube social media. Theoretically there is a gap between the principle of a preacher who must speak well, but the three young kiai instead use it as a method in preaching. The research method in the article uses qualitative with communication theory as an analytical tool. So the use of "bad" words such as gaangan, stupid, stupid, jancuk in the da'wah carried out by the young kiai is an effort to get closer to mad'u, so that mad'u, especially millennials, can easily accept da'wah messages.
2025-04-08T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Icon: Islamic Communication and Contemporary Media Studieshttps://icon.uinkhas.ac.id/index.php/icon/article/view/201Konstruksi Sosial Moderasi Beragama: Analisis Teori Konstruktivisme Berger dan Luckmann dalam Komunikasi Keagamaan Indonesia 2025-03-25T06:47:12+07:00Zainul Fananizainulfanani@uinkhas.ac.idNasirudin Al Ahsaninasirudin@uinkhas.ac.id
The issue of religious moderation in Indonesia is a critical concern amidst global challenges such as extremism and horizontal religious conflicts, as well as local dynamics like the influence of diverse religio-cultural norms. This study aims to analyze: (1) the social construction of religious moderation through Berger and Luckmann's theory, and (2) the role of religious communication in reinforcing moderation values. A library research method was employed, using qualitative analysis of selected literature (journals, books, policy documents) from credible databases. The findings reveal that religious moderation is constructed dialectically through externalization (values created), objectivation (values institutionalized), and internalization (values adopted by individuals), with religion as a dynamic social product. Religious communication—through education, digital media, and state policies—plays a strategic role in disseminating inclusive narratives, such as the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs' programs integrating wasathiyyah (balance) into curricula and media content. Key findings emphasize that religious moderation is most effective when built through participatory interaction (not top-down) and contextual adaptation, supported by Indonesia's legal framework and multiculturalism. This study contributes to strengthening discourse on moderation based on social constructivism and transformative communication practices.
2025-04-10T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Icon: Islamic Communication and Contemporary Media Studieshttps://icon.uinkhas.ac.id/index.php/icon/article/view/178Analisis Representasi Lesbian, Gay, Biseksual, dan Transgender (LGBT) pada Lima Game Online2025-01-09T15:07:21+07:00Dyah Ayu Puspita Saridyahayu2401@gmail.com
In an online game, there is a representation in the visual aspect, narrative, dialogue, and character interaction that shows Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) behavior. This is very unacceptable in the view of Islam because basically humans have been created in pairs between men and women, not with the same sex. The purpose of this study is to determine the representation of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) in five online games and to determine Islam's view on LGBT representation in online games. The data analysis used John Fiske's semiotic model. The results of the study on five online games containing LGBT elements found a level of reality through appearance codes, movement codes, environmental codes, speech style codes, and expression codes. In addition, there is also a level of representation through narrative code, character code, action code, dialogue code, and background code. Finally, the level of ideology is found which is produced from reality and representation which contains the ideology of liberalism, the ideology of humanism, and the ideology of individualism.
2025-04-24T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Icon: Islamic Communication and Contemporary Media Studieshttps://icon.uinkhas.ac.id/index.php/icon/article/view/221KRITIK SOSIAL DALAM RUANG PUBLIK: STUDI KASUS TAYANGAN ACARA LAPOR PAK! The research aims to explore the denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings embedded in scenes that depict deviant behavior, particularly among adolescents. This is a qualitative-descriptive study employing semiotic analysis of visual and narrative elements in the film. The findings reveal that denotatively, Dilan’s behavior often violates norms of politeness and discipline; connotatively, these acts are interpreted as symbols of courage and youthful romance; while at the mythological level, the film constructs a patriarchal ideology that portrays dominant male figures as the romantic ideal. These findings suggest that popular films play a role in shaping social perceptions of deviant behavior and highlight the need for critical examination to prevent normalization of actions that contradict societal values.
2025-04-26T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Icon: Islamic Communication and Contemporary Media Studies
