About the Journal

Icon: Islamic Communication and Contemporary Media Studies (e-ISSN: 2986-7649) is a journal that publishes research on Islamic communication science and contemporary media studies. This journal not only functions as a way to import communication approaches into the realm of Islamic studies but also exports Islamic studies for media studies in Indonesia. The journal is quite open to the use of various paradigms and methodologies in communication and media studies: theoretical, empirical, qualitative, quantitative, and comparative-historical. Furthermore, the existence of this journal is expected to encourage scholars who focus on Islamic communication studies and contemporary media to develop and disseminate ideas, thoughts, and study results more deeply related to the landscape of these two disciplines. Icon: Islamic Communication and Contemporary Media Studies is published by the Faculty of Da'wah of the State Islamic University of Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember, specifically managed by the Department of Islamic Communication and Broadcasting (KPI). The journal is published twice a year, in April and October. The journal prioritizes writing on strategic communication, public communication, media and cultural studies, journalism, and communication and information technology studied through monodisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary approaches. Published articles can use Indonesian, Arabic, and English. To maintain the quality of published writing, the editorial board strictly selects articles using a plagiarism check process and involves reviewers who have expertise in this field.
